1980
"The Bowery" is the name we call our hobby farm; chosen when Tom and Cheryl first moved to Egan Creek near Bancroft, Ontario, Canada. Our first son, Blake, was born here in June, 1980 and is now prominently featured playing with Ch Bowery Ginger and Ch Meynell Crippin on our Home page.
1981
Wanting to breed great Bull Terriers, we purchased a little foundation puppy bitch from a small but hi-quality local kennel. We named her 'Maisie' because Cheryl thought the name sounded tough. Her breeders knew she would be a show dog but let us know right away that Bull Terriers never seem to win much in the Terrier Group. Let's wait and see... …
1982
We are blessed with our second son, Craig, at the end of March. Our young bitch, Maisie, also known as Am. Can. Ch. Phaegans Shady Lady ROM, wins very big, finishes her Championship in the shortest time ever by any Bull Terrier and ends the year as Canada’s Top Bull Terrier. She is now definitely the one to beat.
1983
Maisie continues her winning ways and after multiple Terrier Group wins and several Best in Shows becomes the first Bull Terrier in the history of the breed ever to be awarded Canada’s Top Terrier - All Breeds! She becomes wonderfully attached to the boys. She travels across Canada with Cheryl and Loblaw's Hall of Fame; is featured on the cover of Dogs in Canada and on National Television.
1984
Cheryl arranges to import from England their top brindle Bull Terrier, Abraxes Armonit (Arthur), who turns out to be big, beautiful and very docile. All Breed Judge and Bull Terrier Fancier, Tom Horner (of Dog World fame), puts him up to Best In Specialty Show in Toronto and BISS again in Calgary. He then visits the Bowery and tells us personally (and also tells the readers of Dog World) that this dog should never have been allowed to leave England.
1985
Am. Can. Ch. Abraxes Armonit ROM is shown professionally by Bob Whitney to win Canada’s Top Terrier- All Breeds for only the second time in history by any Bull Terrier (No Bull Terrier has ever reached the status of Top Terrier since the repeat by Maisie and Arthur). Cheryl again tours across Canada, this time with Arthur and both ‘Maisie’ and ‘Arthur’ end up in Loblaw’s Hall of Fame. The Bowery is now synonymous with great Bullies.
1986
Arthur becomes Canada’s Top Producer while our homebred bitch, Ch Bowery Special Blend, wins the Bull Terrier Club of Canada's National Specialty. It doesn't happen a lot but our whole ‘Bowery Special’ litter ends up winning their Championships.
1987
Can & Am Ch Bowery Boy of Singlee is campaigned, with Bob Whitney again doing the handling, and our ‘Punky' ends the year as Canada’s Top Pug. Bowery Bull Terriers are winning more blue ribbons and trophies than we can count.
1988
Bowery Bull Terriers are highly sought after for their show winning conformation but more importantly; their friendly temperaments. The best white Bull Terrier the world has ever seen is born right here at the Bowery and we name him ‘Soupy’ (shown here).
1989
A disasterous kennel fire destoys all our breeding stock and Cheryl is out of Bull Terriers forever. For over a year, she cannot even say the word 'dog' let alone talk to anyone about the horrific loss of her beloved Bullies.
1990
Tom and Craig travel to Great Britain for a holiday and bring back to the Bowery two cute little Russell Terrier pups that happen to be extremely well bred. Cheryl breaks down, perks up and decides to try breeding World-Class Terriers again. A new kennel facilty is built.
1991
Cheryl brings in Foxwarren blood from Devon and Meynell blood from Derby and by combining them with the best Canadian and American Russell Terriers she can find, is well on her way to the top again. The Parson Russell Terrier Breed is now starting to be recognized as a pure breed by Kennel Clubs all around the world.
1992
Parson Russell Terriers have already been recognised as a distinct and pure breed in England (the country of origin). The Kennel Club originally names them Parson Jack Russell Terriers and later changes the name to Parson Russell Terriers to differentiate the purebred from the common, out-crossed Jack Russell Terrier. In North America we continue to call them all Russell Terriers regardless of quality. The JRT Hunt Clubs over here insist that they should be out-crossed (presumably to maintain hybrid vigor) and that they will never breed true to type at any rate.
1993
Cheryl sets out to prove them all wrong and starts to line breed to establish a distinct and recognizable type of Bowery Russell Terriers. Once again, sound friendly temperaments as well as the original Parson Russell Type are high on her list of breed qualities.
1994
A new Bowery Maisie wins Best Puppy in Show (New York State) while another home bred, Bowery Bobbie, defeats our new English import, Meynell Randy, for Best Puppy in Show under JRTCA Breeder Judge, Teri Batzer. Bowery bred Russell Terrier puppies are starting to do well all over North America.
1995
Our outstanding Home-Bred dog, Bowery Bart, wins Best Puppy in Show at Denton, Tx , Philadelphia, Pa, and Mason-Dixon, Md . He looks like he will be un-stop-able and the JRTCC change their rules to eliminate Bowery Bart (because he has an American father) from Canadian Bred Competition.
1996
Instead of Best Canadian Bred, Bowery Bart is awarded the more prestigious Best Bred by Exhibitor at the Canadian Nationals under English judge, Greg Mousley and then heads south to win Best Terrier at the Georgia State Trial under Teri Batzer. Bowery Brass is Best 4-6 Mons Puppy at the Southeast Regionals in Florida. Bowery Peppermint Patty (shown here) then goes right to the top and wins Best in Show at the Skydome in Toronto. Meanwhile, Bowery Buck becomes the JRTCC’s most sought after Stud Dog.
1997
Bowery Bart becomes the first Russell Terrier in history to ever be awarded Best in Show at the CJRTA Nationals. Bowery Ginger goes Best of Opposite Sex to Bowery Bart on the same day under prestigious Canadian All-Breed Judge, Sandy Gunn.
1998
Our American import 'Axel' (pictured with Cheryl and Blake) is awarded Best Puppy in Show at the '98 CJRTA Nationals . Our English import, Meynell Crippin, is Best Smooth Dog at the JRTAA Nationals in Maryland. Bowery Bud goes Best Terrier in Northern California.
1999
The Parson Russell Terrier is recognised as a pure breed all over the world and finally here, in North America, the JRTAA achieves breed recognition within the AKC. Waiting for AKC championship shows to open for the Russells, Cheryl decides to enter Breed Specialities only and what a year! She won almost every event she attended and at several specialties she swept all the Conformation ribbons and trophies. She was more than competitive in every class and her American friends are ready to send her packing- but wait 'til next year...…
2000
In April 2000, the Purebred Russell was allowed to compete for AKC Championship points for the first time ever and Cheryl really wanted to get involved. Her Bowery breeding won Best of Breed after Best of Breed and her dogs really racked up the points. She personally finished 6 different Bowery AKC Champions in the first 6 months (not a very easy task) and several more are now well on their way. Cheryl has now bred, shown (breeder-owner-handled) and finished more AKC Champion Russell Terriers than anyone, anywhere. Naturally, her import, Ch Meynell Crippin was named one of the Top Producers for 2000.
2001
Cheryl has now placed several top quality Russells in show homes across North America and around the world. There are 4 Bowery dogs in the US Top Twenty - more than any other breeder. On the West Coast, watch out for Connie's Bravo, Joyce's Money Penny, and Suzee's Frito Bandito. Here in the East, you might see, Margaret's Ozzie, Lee's Show Me or Marcie's Beanie Baby. You never know but Cheryl might even show up with Bahama Mama, Zulu Warrior or even Blueprint.

Her list of Russell Champion Show Dogs continues to grow and from a great start last year, will be 15 or more by this year's end. (See Our Dogs/Champions)

2002
Another year is here again and Cheryl is showing no signs of slowing down. This is Am Ch Bowery Special Edition and she is typical of the Bowery "Parson" type we are producing. Bowery breeding is doing extremely well at Terrier Shows across the Continent and we are very proud of Cheryl's accomplishments. In the month of June alone, "FIVE" new Bowery Bred dogs were awarded their American Championships.

We are now home to more than 20 AKC Champions and 3 of this year's Top 25 invited to the Eukanuba National Championship Show in December. We still have allot to do to ... so stay in touch.

2003
Well 2002 is in the books and although it was a very trying year for the Edwards family on a personal level, we all made it through. Cheryl's breeding has done exceedingly well all over the world (Bowery Bowhunter in Columbia is pictured here) and we feel that if everyone continues to breed and show their best dogs, the Parson Russell Terrier is destined for greatness. The Canadian Kennel Club has added the Parson Russell Terrier to their List of Breeds to be Recognised this year. North America already produces some of the very best PRT's in the world and we see the breed improving every single day.
2004
This is going to be an exciting year as the Canadian Kennel Club has finally voted to move the Parson Russell Terrier from the Miscellaneous List into full recognition within the Canadian Terrier Group.

Our Stud Dogs are still producing Champion after Champion but Zulu is enjoying sunny Mexico after setting records down there as a American and now a Mexican Champion while Cheryl is bringing along her young prospects and is 'chomping at the bit' to get back in the show ring again.

Bowery dogs will always be at a show near you and you will recognise them easily because their tails will be wagging as they love to perform for their owners. The lovely female pictured here is the 2003 Canadian National Best in Specialty Show winner, Ch Bowery Cirque du Soleil, relaxing in the garden of her proud owner Claude Paquette (Montreal).

2005
Bowery N Brackenhill Bolo finished her Championship with 4 majors. She is a lovely all white bitch that has lots of attitiude
2005
The Pedigree Dog Food Company just published their TOP TEN All Time Top Producers list (in the USA) for each breed and THREE (yes 3!) of Cheryl's Canadian Parson's made the list! No wonder she now has more than 40 AKC Champion Parsons to her credit.

Cheryl herself is now semi-retired but is breeding and showing very selectively, along with other breeding friends, across the continent. She is usually dividing her time between Ontario, Canada and Jalisco, Mexico (depending mostly on the weather).

At the better competitions, there will often be Bowery Blood in the winner's circle so come on out and see what a Top Breeder and a few Top Producers can accomplish.

2007
2006 Was a very good year for Bowery Bred dogs. Cheryl did not show much that year but others did. In the USA the Top 10 Dogs were listed for the year: 4 of the top ten were out of BOWERY Bitches, including #1 Those dogs were #1 Ch Whisper Wind I'M A Dignified Dude dam Ch BOWERY BUBBLES #3 Ch Sunrocks Make My Day dam Ch BOWERY QUEEN OF SWORDS #8 Ch Maple Run Guilty As Charged dam Ch BOWERY SPECIAL EDITION JE #9 Ch Red Rock High Roller dam BOWERY AMAZIN GRACE ROMX 4 OF THE TOP TEN DOGS, OUT OF BOWERY BITCHES that is an amazing record.   MX CH BOWERY BABY has attained her Mexican Championship at the ripe old age of 8 months. She also won the Breed and the Terrier Group the same day. She got a real good look for BEST IN SHOW but had to settle for BEST PUPPY IN SHOW Her owner, Angel Ayela, showed her himself to win the breed and then I took over for Group and Best in Show. I love to see us Owner/Handlers competing in the ring, It should be what this "SPORT"s all about. Breeders and Owners having fun and enjoying competing
